‘Judas’ Gospel’

EXCLUSIVE: Italy-based sales firm Minerva Pictures has closed deals across its slate at Hong Kong’s Filmart (March 17-20).

Minerva has sold Giulio Base’s religious drama Judas’ Gospel to Media Nikke in South Korea, with the deal conducted in partnership with Minerva’s sister company TVCO.

The film, which debuted out of competition at Locarno Film Festival last year, depicts Jesus nailed to the cross and Judas hanging from a tree, a short distance from each other and each needing the other to fulfil their destinies.

Minerva has also sold Alessandro Tonda’s war thriller The Negotiator to Doki Ent. in South Korea, following a festival run of more than 20 stops including Shanghai International Film Festival.

The Italian film stars Claudio Santamaria as an Italian secret service agent who risks his life to rescue a kidnapped journalist from an Iraqi terrorist cell.

Further sales for Minerva include a library sale of four spaghetti Western titles to South Korea’s Il Media; and of Taiwanese TV series Bloody Smart to Media4Fun in Poland.

“It certainly has been busy and vibrant, especially with lots of South East Asian distributors looking for content for theatrical exploitation,” said Bianca Gaicalone, sales executive at Minerva Pictures, of the 2026 Filmart.

“What I am looking forward the most is finding more European partners to distribute the highly anticipated series Bloody Smart that will come out on Netflix Taiwan this summer and that we are representing for sales outside Asia.”
