The CBeebies Christmas Show is returning to cinemas in the UK and Ireland this winter, with the BBC partnering with distributor Modern Films on the release for the fourth successive year.
Billed as ‘a family outing and a great first big-screen experience for kids’, the screening is of an interactive show, including songs for the audience to join in with. The story of this year’s show is The Night Before Christmas.
The show will be staged and filmed at the Theatre Royal Plymouth in October, in front of a local audience. The cinema theatrical version will have a premiere in Leicester Square, London in support of the Children In Need charity, before a cinema release on the weekend of December 4 and 5. The cinema release will also feature exclusive content including a special guest reading.
After previous releases based on Thumbelina in 400 sites and Hansel & Gretel in 350 sites, last year an encore of Hansel & Gretel received a limited theatrical release in the three weeks when cinemas were open between lockdowns.
