EXCLUSIVE: Motion Picture Exchange (MPX) has hired former DeskPop Entertainment senior Mat Levy as executive vice president to oversee all aspects of global film sales operations.
Levy will handle distribution deals in North America and international markets, expand the overall positioning of MPX’s slate of completed features, play an integral role in shaping market strategies, strengthening industry relationships, and supporting MPX’s acquisition efforts.
Most recently Levy served as EVP at DeskPop Entertainment where he curated a diverse roster of films including Screamboat, Starz hit Camp Pleasant Lake, an exclusive restoration of Around The Fire starring Colman Domingo, and 2021 Tribeca Festival selection The First Step.
Previous to DeskPop he worked for 17 years at Passion River Films, serving as head of acquisitions and sales and releasing over 600 films.
MPX president and co-founder Ryan Bury said: “Mat brings a rare combination of strategic insight, deep industry knowledge, and a genuine passion for championing great, commercial films.”
Levy added: “MPX has a stellar reputation for being innovative and forward-thinking while always being very selective and strategic in the high level films they bring out to market.”
In Cannes MPX reported a strong response from buyers to its survival thriller Grizzly Night.
