Parasomnia

EXCLUSIVE: Motion Picture Exchange (MPX) has added the elevated supernatural horror thriller Parasomnia starring Jasmine Mathews from The Tomorrow War to the slate it has introduced to AFM buyers this week.

James Ross II wrote and directed the story of Riley (Mathews), a young woman afflicted by night terrors and an unresolved tragedy who suspects the demonic figure haunting her sleep may be behind the disappearance of her friend.

RJ Brown, Sally Stewart, and Stephen Barrington round out the key cast on the winner of the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival Silver Audience Award winner from Talking Pictures and Beach House/Lurid. Gabrielle Chapman and Pacey Hansen serve as producers, and Tabitha Shick, Dan Clifton, Kristian B. Chapman, and Jijo Reed are executive producers.

MPX said Parasomnia “hits the right genre beats while still feeling fresh and cinematic, proving that independent filmmaking can stand toe-to-toe with studio-level fare”. MPX represents worldwide sales.

The roster includes Robinson Devor’s true-crime story You Can’t Win about the outlaw Jack Black starring Michael Pitt (Boardwalk Empire), and Will Patton (Armageddon); Adam Newman’s survival horror Round The Decay, about travellers who race to uncover the secret of a mountain town where the locals sacrifice outsiders to appease an ancient creature; and Asatrian Productions’ romance A Winter’s Song.
