‘Mr Burton’

Mr Burton took home two awards at last night’s (October 5) Bafta Cymru celebration of the Welsh film and TV industries, while Welsh It’s A Sin writer-creator Russell T Davies received the outstanding contribution award.

Directed by Welsh filmmaker Marc Evans, Mr Burton tells the true story of the teacher who inspired Welsh schoolboy Richard Jenkins to one day become Hollywood acting legend Richard Burton, and stars Toby Jones and Harry Lawtey. It received awards in the sound and photography and lighting: fiction categories.

BBC series The Lost Boys And Fairies was the biggest winner on the night, taking home five awards including best television drama, best actor for Sion Daniel Young and best director: fiction for James Kent.

Actor Anna Maxwell Martin won her first Bafta Cymru award for her performance in ITVX series Until I Kill You, which was set in London but filmed in Wales.
