EXCLUSIVE: Myriad Pictures will introduce to AFM buyers next week the dramatic thriller Good In The Room set against the world of professional ice hockey, starring Mark O’Brien from Ready Or Not.
Pat Kiely will direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with O’Brien about Charlie, a former ice hockey phenomenon who has hit hard times and is haunted by the success of his childhood best friend JP, who has become the sport’s most celebrated superstar.
Charlie gets drawn into a desperate scheme fuelled by envy, resentment, and the promise of redemption. As old friendships fracture and long-buried grievances resurface, Charlie is forced to confront how far he will go in pursuit of the success he believes was stolen from him.
Andrew “King Bach” Bachelor (The Babysitter), Laysla De Oliveira (Lioness) and Éric Bruneau (Before The Crash) round out the key cast.
The Banner House and Grand Touring project is funded by Telefilm, Sodec and Crave. Kiely, Philippe Chabot, and Julian Geneen serve as producers and the executive producers include Ryan Bobkin, Mark Slone, Sardé Hardie, Albert Shin, and O’Brien.
Myriad Pictures handles worldwide sales excluding Canada, where Photon Films is on board to distribute. The film is currently in post production and is anticipated to screen at festivals in early 2027.
“Pat Kiely and Mark O’Brien have delivered a smart, character-driven script that explores friendship, jealousy, and the relentless pursuit of success through a uniquely entertaining lens,” said Myriad CEO Kirk D’Amico.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Myriad and Kirk, who immediately understood the film we set out to make: an unexpected and surprising thriller built on great characters, with Montreal and the world of hockey as its backdrop,” said Kiely.
