Netflix’s Jennifer Lopez documentary Halftime will open the 2022 Tribeca Festival, set to run in New York from June 8-19.

Amanda Micheli’s film follows Lopez as she prepares for her celebrated 2020 Super Bowl halftime show and reflects on her activism and milestones as she navigates new challenges in her career.

The premiere will take place on June 8 at United Theatre blocks away from Lopez’s native Bronx, before it debuts on Netflix on June 14.

Tribeca Festival co-founder and Tribeca Enterprises CEO Jane Rosenthal said the film “reflects our commitment to equity and inclusion, and we’re eager to premiere this beautiful exploration of J. Lo’s Latina culture and heritage”.

Besides the film selection festival brass will programme live concerts, performances, talks, and demonstrations throughout New York. Programming updates will follow in the weeks ahead.
