Nick Jonas will star in the action thriller Bodyman which Jeffrey Greenstein’s A Higher Standard will introduce to buyers at the EFM in Berlin this week.

Gary Fleder, whose credits include Homefront, and the television series Reacher and Kingdom, will direct from a screenplay by Kingdom writer Byron Balasco. Principal photography is scheduled to commence in June.

Bodyman centres on a violent struggle for power and survival that erupts during a family Christmas on the remote family estate of an eccentric billionaire when he signs over his children’s expected inheritance of his private military company to his longtime bodyguard (Jonas).

A Higher Standard, Nickel City Pictures, and Powered by Jonas are producing in association with executive producer Picturestart. Spencer Berman and Jonas will produce for Powered by Jonas, alongside Nickel City Pictures’ Mark Fasano, and A Higher Standard’s Greenstein.

“Working on Kingdom with Byron Balasco and Nick Jonas was one of the highlights of my career,” Fleder said. “So I’m thrilled to jump back in with them on Bodyman —a smart, lean, high-voltage action thriller that gives Nick the chance to show every side of what he can do: the physicality, the intensity, and the emotional depth.”.

“We are always looking for compelling stories that elevate the action genre,” Greenstein said, “and it’s even more exciting when you pair a talent like Nick Jonas, with his deep commitment to the craft, alongside an incredible creative team to deliver a grounded and gripping film that audiences crave.”

Jonas added, “I’ve been developing this project for a while and I’m excited to see it come to fruition. Reteaming with Byron Balasco and director Gary Fleder also makes this project more special to me.”

A Higher Standard handles worldwide sales. The company’s romantic comedy Solo Mio starring Kevin James, which it introduced to buyers in Cannes 2024, debuted in second place at the North American box office over the weekend through Angel Studios.
