EXCLUSIVE: Mubi has acquired Nicolas Winding Refn’s upcoming thriller Her Private Hell for UK-Ireland, Italy, Spain and Latin America.
The distributor acquired the film from Neon International, which is managing international sales. Neon will release the film in cinemas in North America.
Currently in post-production and tipped for a Cannes launch, Her Private Hell will be Danish filmmaker Winding Refn’s first feature since 2016’s The Neon Demon. The film stars Sophie Thatcher, Charles Melton, Havana Rose Liu, Kristine Froseth, Diego Calva, Shioli Kutsuna, Aoi Yamada and Hidetoshi Nishijima.
Winding Refn wrote the script with Esti Giordani, and produced the film, which shot in Tokyo in spring 2025.
Executive producers are Takuma Takasaki, Kimberly Willming, Christina Erritzoe, and Lene Borglum.
It is the second Mubi acquisition this week, after the distributor acquired key territories on Markus Schleinzer’s Berlinale title Rose yesterday.
