‘Night Of The Zoopocalypse’

EXCLUSIVE: Animated feature Night of the Zoopocalypse has scored more sales for Anton and Charades as it continues to roll out at the global box office.

New territories sold on the family-friendly comedy horror include South Korea (The Coup Corporation), Taiwan (AV-Jet International), India (Guruparan International), Scandinavia (Selmer Media) and Spain (Sideral), adding to more than 20 previously announced deals

The film about a meteor-sparked virus that turns zoo animals into mutants has passed the £1m ($1.3m) mark in the UK and Ireland, where it was released by Kazoo Films on October 10. Elsewhere, it has made around $1.2m in multiple territories in Latin America for Sun Distribution and $2.8m in France for Apollo Films, which opened the film at the start of the year.

The animated adventure is produced by Steven Hoban’s Copperheart Entertainment and Charades Productions, and coproduced by U Media, in association with House of Cool. It is directed by Rodrigo Perez-Castro and Ricardo Curtis and written by James Kee. David Harbour, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Scott Thompson and Gabbi Kosmidis are among the ensemble voice cast.

It’s the second theatrical release for Kazoo Films, the new UK distribution company launched by independent production outfit Cantilever Media this summer.

Andrew Baker, CEO of Kazoo Films, said: “There is a continued, and growing, appetite for independent animation in the UK. We have ambitious plans to build on this success and continue to entertain kids and families with quality animated movies.”

Anton and Charades are continuing sales on Night of the Zoopocalypse at AFM.
