Inde Navarrette

Inde Navarrette, whose breakout role in Curry Barker’s horror smash Obsession has planted her firmly in the awards conversation, will star in The Waffle House Index for Apple Original Films and Plan B.

Louis Paxton will direct the project and his The Incomer recently opened Edinburgh International Film Festival after premiering in Sundance at the start of the year.

Apple will serve as the studio and Plan B will produce. The partners were being coy with plot details at time of writing, however the project is based on Andrew Nunnelly’s 2015 Blacklist screenplay and refers to natural disaster agency FEMA’s severity rating and centres on a woman working the late shift at her local Waffle House restaurant chain as a storm approaches.

Apple Studios will serve as the studio and Plan B will produce. In addition to starring, Navarrette will serve as executive producer.

Obsession was the sensation of 2025 TIFF’s Midnight Madness section and Focus Features snapped up the majority of worldwide rights in a $15m deal. The film was made for less than $1m and has grossed more than $500m worldwide.

Apple Studios collaborated with Plan B on F1 and will s will also soon release a new Mark Wahlberg-led feature, produced by Plan B, and written and directed by Stephen Chbosky.
