Piece Of Magic Entertainment acquires Oscar-nominated ‘Little Amélie or The Character Of Rain’ for German distribution

EXCLUSIVE: Piece of Magic Entertainment has picked up all rights for Germany on Oscar-nominated animation Little Amélie or The Character Of Rain.

Liane-Cho Han and Mailys Vallade’s French feature is an adaptation of Amelie Nothomb’s novel The Character Of Rain, about a Belgian child in Japan and her third-birthday turning point that changes her understanding of the world.

It debuted as a Special Screening at Cannes 2025, going on to Toronto and BFI London Film Festival, and receiving a nomination for best animated feature at the 98^th Oscars.

Goodfellas Animation handles world sales rights on the film, which released this past weekend in UK-Ireland through Vue Lumière.
