EXCLUSIVE: Conic has acquired UK-Ireland distribution rights to Paul Andrew Williams’ Dragonfly.
The film launched in competition at Tribeca film festival in June, and has its UK premiere at Edinburgh International Film Festival this weekend.
Conic will release Dragonfly in UK-Ireland cinemas in November. Alliance Media Partners handles world sales.
Written by Williams, Dragonfly is the story of two women who strike up an unlikely friendship, when one takes it upon herself to care for her elderly neighbour.
Andrea Riseborough and Brenda Blethyn were jointly awarded best performance in an international narrative feature at Tribeca for their performances, with Jason Watkins also in the cast.
The film had its European premiere at Karlovy Vary film festival, and won best international film at Galway Film Fleadh last month.
It is produced by Dominic Tighe of Giant Productions and Marie-Elene Dyche of Meraki Films; the pair previously produced Williams’ 2021 revenge thriller Bull.
Executive producers on Dragonfly are Eilene Davidson Productions, Desmar, Screen Yorkshire, Bruno Wang Productions and Alliance Media Partners (AMP), with the film made in association with OnSight and Shoebox Films.
