EXCLUSIVE: Screen can reveal the first trailer for Emil Langballe’s Petrolheads, ahead of its world premiere at CPH:DOX next month.

Petrolheads follows the friendship of two men driving the Danish roads in search of a used Honda Civic that might make life feel a bit more normal.

The film will play in the main Dox:Award competition at CPH:DOX on Saturday, March 14.

Julie Walenciak produces with Claes Hedlund for Copenhagen-based company Paloma Productions.

The film is backed by the Danish Film Institute, TV-2 and FilmFyn. Toronto-based Verità Films (formerly Syndicado Film Sales) handles world sales.

It is the latest feature from Danish documentarian Langballe, who studied at the UK’s National Film and Television School and whose previous title Theatre Of Violence also launched at CPH:DOX.

“My film follows the struggle of two outsiders desperately trying to find their place in the world,” said Langballe. “To me, they are heroes. Life has not dealt them the best cards: they feel forgotten, humiliated, and pushed aside. Yet they fight tooth and nail to hold onto their dreams.

“I hope the audience is drawn into their universe, laughing and crying alongside them, while reflecting on their own friendships, vulnerabilities, and prejudices.”
