‘Think Good’

EXCLUSIVE: Playtime has scooped international sales rights to Geraldine Nakache’s psychological thriller Think Good (Si Tu Penses Bien) starring Monia Chokri and Niels Schneider, which will world premiere in the Cannes Premiere section at next month’s Cannes Film Festival.

Chokri and Schneider play a couple who fall hard for each other, then when she gets pregnant unexpectedly, they rush into marriage. However, their hasty nuptials reveal she is not as deeply rooted in the Jewish faith as he is, and she begins to recognise the quiet, insidious control he exerts over her life.

The film is produced by Patrick Quinet for Liaison Cinématographique and Philippe Godeau for Pan Cinéma. Pan Distribution will release it in France. Co-producers are Belgium’s Artemis Productions, Be TV and Orange, Proximus, RTBF, and Shelter Prod.

Nakache is one of France’s most popular actress-writer-directors, best known for her trio of commercial successes All That Glitters, Nous York and I’ll Go Where You Go. She makes her filmmaker debut in Cannes with Think Good and penned the screenplay with David Lambert.

Nicolas Brigaud-Robert, managing director at Playtime, calls the film Nakache’s “most ambitious and incisive film to date – a piercing portrait of coercive control disguised as love, anchored by a luminous Monia Chokri and an unsettling Niels Schneider. A bold, contemporary drama that will resonate far beyond borders.”

Playtime heads to Cannes with six films across the official and parallel sections, including the festival’s official opening night film, The Electric Kiss, Critics’ Week closing night film Goodbye Cruel World, plus Iron Boy in Un Certain Regard and Too Many Beasts and 9 Temples To Heaven in Director’s Fortnight.

Pan Cinema and Pan Distribution are labels of Pan Europeene, which is, along with Playtime, part of European studio Vuelta.
