Production has begun this week on the meta action comedy Jason Statham Stole My Bike starring the British indie stalwart, with Black Bear announcing a North American release date of August 6 2027.

David Leitch of The Fall Guy and Deadpool 2 fame is shooting in London and Malta. Black Bear has played coy about plot details, however Leitch has said Statham will play a version of himself and the film will have four-quadrant appeal and play to families.

Black Bear launched pre-sales at the EFM in Berlin last February when it was reported that the budget is in the region of $80m and Amazon were circling international rights.

Alison Flierl wrote the screenplay based on a story from her and Scott Chernoff. Kelly McCormick produces alongside Leitch for 87North, Statham producing for Punch Palace Productions, John Friedberg for Black Bear, and Meredith Berg and Ethan Erwin for Beryllium Entertainment.

Fifth Season and Tango – now led by Neil Shah with co-founder Tim Headington since Lia Buman left to head up Paramount global acquisitions – serve as executive producers.

Jason Statham Stole My Bike marks the latest collaboration between Black Bear and Statham. They most recently wrapped production on Guy Ritchie’s Viva La Madness, and Black Bear kicked off pre-sales in Cannes on John Doe.

Black Bear recently released 2025 Telluride selection Tuner and its North American distribution pipeline includes The Rivals Of Amziah King on August 14, Spa Weekend on August 21, and Wife & Dog and Sundance entry Wicker both later this year.
