Fortissimo, GK Films, Lightning Entertainment and Odin’s Eye Entertainment are the latest companies to sign up to the online entertainment rights licensing marketplace.

The digital sales and acquisitions platform has been expanding its client base since former Miramax licensing executive Steven Polster arrived as CEO in September 2013.

Currently more than two dozen sales agents and content owners including Sierra Affinity and Voltage Pictures use RightsTrade’s secure online screening service and Market On Demand rights licensing platform.

Since Polster’s arrival the service has more than tripled its online screenings volume, added more than 1,000 film and TV titles, and registering 3,000 industry buyers.

The company has also developed its RightSearch rights availabilities search engine that enables buyers to search a database of millions of rights availabilities by territory, genre, year and distribution channel.

RightSearch is currently in beta testing with a pool of companies including the aforementioned clients and is anticipated to go live in the coming months.

“Since bringing our screening platform out of beta in Cannes we have had an overwhelming response from sales agents and content owners who see RightsTrade as an effective tool to speed up the sales cycle, eliminate manual administrative tasks and generate incremental sales,” said Polster.

“With more registered buyers in the marketplace than the Cannes Marche du Film, sellers have access to an entirely new sales channel available 24/7/365.”

Fortissimo MD Nelleke Driessen said RightsTrade allowed the company to eliminate “an enormous amount” of administrative activity.

RightsTrade has also completed a software integration with content and rights management SaaS provider FilmTrack.

The latter holds a minority interest in RightsTrade and manages more than three million titles and 450,000 contracts for more than 200 companies in 180 territories.
