EXCLUSIVE: Evolution Pictures has set key deals on Rolling Loud The Movie starring Owen Wilson and Matt Rife, ahead of this week’s Cannes Marché du Film (May 12-20).
The film has sold to Eastern Europe (Forum Film), Israel (Forum Film), Scandinavia (Svensk Filmindustri), Portugal (NOS Lusomundo), Latin America (A2 Filmes), Middle East (ECS) and CIS (MGN Paradise). Negotiations are ongoing for additional international territories, with Evolution continuing business on the ground at Cannes this week.
The film will screen for buyers in Cannes today (Monday 11) and on Friday, May 15, having made its market debut at Berlin’s European Film Market in February.
Rolling Loud is a comedy about a by-the-book dad trying too hard to be a cool parent, who makes an ill-advised decision to sneak his 13-year-old son into the Rolling Loud music festival, headlined by rap star Travis Scott. What starts as a bonding weekend instantly spirals out of control when he loses his son in a sea of thousands.
Directed by US filmmaker Jeremy Garelick, the film was shot on location at last year’s Rolling Loud hip-hop festival in the US. Owen Wilson, Christian Convery, Matt Rife and Scott are among the cast, with the film produced by Live Nation Studios, the film and TV arm of leading live entertainment company Live Nation Entertainment.
Ketchup Entertainment will conduct a wide commercial release for the film in the US from October 2, in over 2,000 screens. A marketing campaign for the release began this past weekend at the 2026 Rolling Loud festival, including a teaser trailer.
“We’re seeing real momentum coming into Cannes and strong engagement from buyers across multiple regions,” said Fred Hedman, CEO of Evolution Pictures. “The combination of a clear commercial concept and the scale of the Rolling Loud brand is resonating in the market.”
“Launching off the palpable excitement of the film’s teaser debut this weekend at the massive ‘Rolling Loud’ Festival in Orlando, FL., we look forward to sharing the project with the rest of the world,” said Ryan Kroft, Head of Film & TV, Live Nation Studios.
“We’re thrilled to bring audiences a bold, unapologetic comedy. As comedy continues its resurgence, this film stands out for its fearless R-rated humour and incredible talent both in front of and behind the camera,” said Gareth West, CEO of Ketchup Entertainment.
