Javier Bardem is to receive a lifetime achievement award at the Rome Film Fest, which runs October 13-25.
Bardem will be presented with the award ahead of a screening of Rodrigo Sorogoyen’s The Beloved.
The Beloved premiered in competition at Cannes this year, and will play in Rome’s in its Best of 2026 section. The Spanish actor plays a legendary director with a past steeped in violence and excess who asks his estranged daughter to star in his next film.
The lifetime achievement award will be presented to Bardem by Oscar-winning Italian director Paolo Sorrentino.
Bardem won an Oscar for his role in the Coen brothers’ No Country For Old Men and was nominated for his performances in Being The Ricardos, Biutiful and Before Night Falls.
His other credits include starring roles in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Skyfall, Dune, The Sea Inside and Bunker, directed by Florian Zeller and co-starring Penélope Cruz, which just premiered at Venice.
In December, Bardem will return as Stilgar in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three. He recently wrapped production on Amazon MGM Studios’ Hello & Paris opposite Kate Hudson.
