Naomi Watts in ‘The Housewife’

Naomi Watts will be presented with an honorary Donostia award at the San Sebastián International Film Festival in Spain later this month. 

The Australian actress will receive the Donostia at a gala screening of Canadian filmmaker Ben Shirinian’s debut feature The Housewife, in which Watt starsalongside Tye Sheridan, Luke Evans, Michael Imperioli and Lena Olin.

Set in 1964 and based on a true story, the film is about a young journalist who tracks down a potential Nazi officer living secretly in New York and befriends the suspect’s charming wife.

Watts has twice been Academy Award nominated for her roles in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s 21 Grams and for J.A. Bayona’s The Impossible.

San Sebastián is also honouring filmmaker and actor Werner Herzog with a Donostia Award at this year’s festival.
