Sony Pictures Classics is understood to be finalising a deal in Toronto for the US and multiple territories to Stan & Ollie, which screened out of the market on Thursday.
CAA and Sierra/Affinity negotiated the sale, which is understood to include Latin America and select Asian territories.
Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly star as the iconic comedians Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. The film will close the BFI London Film Festival on October 21.
SPC is said to be considering an awards run for the film. Jon S. Baird directed Stan & Ollie, which tells the story of the comedy duo’s triumphant farewell tour in the UK and Ireland, accompanied by their wives Lucille (Shirley Henderson) and Ida (Nina Arianda).
