
Sony Pictures Classics has acquired worldwide rights to Gail Daughtry And The Celebrity Sex Pass, marking its fourth acquisition of a 2026 Sundance film.
David Wain, whose directing credits include Wet Hot American Summer, directed and co-wrote with longtime collaborator Ken Marino the story about a small town hairdresser who takes a road trip to Los Angeles to meet and sleep with Jon Hamm after her boyfriend sleeps with his “celebrity pass”.
Production took place entirely in Los Angeles and the cast includes Zoey Deutch, Hamm, John Slattery, Marino, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Ben Wang, Joe Lo Truglio, and Sabrina Impacciatore in addition to celebrity cameos.
Anthony Bregman, Peter Cron, Marino, Wain, Crystine Zhang, and Charles Zhong produced, while the executive producers include Robert Herjavec, Chechen Dong, Tom Griffin, Amanda Chang, Adrian Politowski, Jamie Canniffe, Franny Baldwin, Deutch, Hamm, and Slattery.
Sony Pictures Classics called the film “the most hilarious comedy we have seen in ages” and negotiated the deal with WME Independent on behalf of the filmmakers. Its previous Sundance acquisitions are The Only Living Pickpocket In New York, Bedford Park, and Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty!
