EXCLUSIVE: Film Factory has picked up international rights to The Devil Within, a psychological thriller now in post that marks the directorial debut of Spanish director Rubén Pérez Barrena.
The film is set in a remote Spanish village in the 1980s and follows a young French boy who arrives with his family seeking peace, only to become entangled with a local man unravelling after the mysterious disappearance of his son. Tamar Novas stars with Marina Salas, Iván Marcos, and Belgian actress Annick Weerts.
The film is produced by Beatriz Bodegas of Madrid’s La Canica.
Co-written by Pérez Barrena and Jesús Miguel Quintana, the film explores the collision of grief, memory and latent violence. “The Devil Within is a dramatic thriller about the loss of innocence,” said the director. ”And how far a traumatic event can push us to walk hand in hand with the devil we all carry inside.”
