EXCLUSIVE: The Yellow Affair has boarded international sales on 11, a Spanish horror-thriller from the producers of Netflix horror The Platform.
The film recently wrapped its shoot and is now in post-production; The Yellow Affair will commence sales at Cannes with a first-look teaser of the film.
11 is the debut feature from directors Claudia Serra and Paula Serra, written by Clara Esteban Pau Pujol and Andrea Martinez.
It follows a group of eight boy and girl scouts, accompanied by two leaders, who arrive at a mountain refuge in the Pyrenees, only for a sudden snowstorm leaves them isolated with no communication or way out.
To keep calm, they decide to count themselves, only to find one extra child who no-one remembers seeing arrive.
Mia Sala-Patau, Pablo Scapigliati, Matias Zocca and Jael Borras lead the cast. The film is produced by David Matamoros for Mr. Miyagi Films, the Barcelona-based production firm with credits including 2019 Toronto premiere The Platform, which sold to Netflix for worldwide.
Co-producers on 11 are Contraban Produccions and Aramos Cine. The film received financing from 3CAT, the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts, the Govern d’Andorra, and the support of Cluster Audiovisual Talent Week.
“Upon reading the script, we immediately recognized that its compelling premise and high-stakes tension making it a strong addition to Yellow Affair’s growing genre slate,” said Alexandra Cruz, sales executive at The Yellow Affair. “Combined with the professionalism and collaborative spirit of the team at Mr. Miyagi, we are thrilled to launch 11 to the market.”
“There is nothing more exciting that making a debut with a horror thriller featuring an amazing actress as Mía willing to do anything to protect these wonderful eight children,” said a statement from Claudia and Paula Serra.
11 joins a The Yellow Affair Cannes slate that includes Visar Morina’s Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner Shame And Money, Elle Sofe Sara’s Berlinale Panorama entry Arru, and Natascha Beller’s family title Splish Splash Forever.
