Steven Spielberg will make his first appearance at Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September with the world premiere of The Fabelmans.
Inspired by the filmmaker’s own childhood, the film is described as a personal portrait of 20th Century American childhood, a coming-of-age story about a young man’s discovery of a shattering family secret and an exploration of the power of film to help us see the truth about each other and ourselves.
The ensemble cast includes Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Gabriel LaBelle, Jeannie Berlin, Julia Butters, Robin Bartlett, Keeley Karsten and Judd Hirsch.
Spielberg and Tony Kushner co-wrote the screenplay and the film is produced by Kristie Macosko Krieger, Spielberg and Kushner.
Universal will release The Fabelmans in the US on November 23. TIFF runs September 8-18.
