‘Like There’s No Tomorrow’

EXCLUSIVE: Five Nordic projects including Tess Quatri’s Like There Is No Tomorrow have been selected for Nordic Wave, a development programme of Stockholm Industry Days, the industry platform of Stockholm Film Festival.

Quatri’s debut feature Like There Is No Tomorrow follows a woman and her half-Swedish daughter who are evicted from their home in Gran Canaria and end up on a run-down campsite for locals pushed out by luxury resorts. As the mother fights to survive, the daughter slips into the island’s party scene.

It is produced by Andrea Berentsen Ottmar and Dyveke Bjorkly Graver for Norway’s Eye Eye Pictures, which has credits including Cristian Mungiu’s Fjord, Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value and Kristoffer Borgli’s Sick Of Myself.

The project has previously been through France’s Less Is More development programme, and the Nordic Film Market at Goteborg Film Festival.

Also selected for Nordic Wave is Ford, the debut feature of Swedish filmmaker Malin Ingrid Johansson – a contemporary drama about a 19-year-old music and nature lover living in the Swedish countryside, who learns that not everyone in his circle is telling him the truth. Johansson’s first short Madden premiered at the 2023 Berlinale, while second short Deck 5B won best international short at Toronto.

All five projects will pitch to industry attendees at Stockholm Industry Days, with one of the five receiving the 400,000 SEK ($40,400) in post-production support, awarded by an industry jury.

Stockholm Film Festival runs from November 11-22, with the Industry Days from November 16-19.
