Studio TF1 will kick off sales on ensemble comedies Family Quiz starring Kristin Scott Thomas and Gendarme Academy at next week’s Paris Rendez-Vous (January 13-20).

Family Quiz (Camembert) is set during a family dinner to celebrate the matriarch’s birthday that spirals into chaos when a game of Trivial Pursuit takes a turn for the worse, exposing class warfare and buried resentments. The film’s ensemble cast also includes Alex Lutz, Pascale Arbillot, Bernard Le Coq and Panayotis Pascot.

It is the debut feature from directing duo Matthieu Rumani and Nicolas Slomka, who broke out with their 2024 Prime Video series Culte. Eric Jehelmann and Philippe Rousselet produce for Jerico Films.

François Prévôt-Leygonie and Stéphan Archinard’s Gendarme Academy (Les Gendarmes) is based on a popular French graphic novel. Set in a quiet town in Burgundy, it follows a well-meaning but ill-prepared group of local police who find themselves facing an unprecedented crime wave, a case involving a missing diamond and disappearing garden gnomes.

The film’s cast includes Arnaud Ducret, Fred Testot, Marc Riso, Sofia Belabbes and Alice David, and it is produced by Bamboo Film.

Both films are in post with Studio TF1 planning to release them in France in the second half of the year.

The company will launch sales at Unifrance’s Rendez-Vous next week. It will also be speaking to buyers about French sex toy comedy Good Vibes Only, which the company launched at AFM in November, and Ludovic Bernard’s Scotland-set con-artist comedy The Perfect Family, and will hold a market screening of comedy sequel Open Season 2, which has been a box office hit in France since opening in December with more than 1 million admissions to date.
