‘Cycle Of Time’

EXCLUSIVE: Vinciane Millereau’s time-travel French comedy Cycle Of Time (C’Était Mieux Demain), about a family that gets catapulted from 1950 to 2025 by their washing machine, has been cleaning up on the global sales circuit with more than 20 distribution deals.

Studio TF1 has sold the film to Austria and Germany (Neue Visionen), Spain (Selecta), Italy (Minerva Pictures), Canada (TVA Films), Poland (Hagi Films), Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania & Moldavia (Prorom), Greece (Spentzos), Israel (Red Cape), Ukraine (SyoeKino), Portugal (Nos Lusomundo), and French-speaking overseas territories (Investissement & Commerce, Maure Films, Filmdis). Paradiso Films is handling distribution in Benelux and JMH Distribution will release the film in Switzerland.

Cycle Of Time stars Elsa Zylberstein as a cheerful, stay-at-home 1950s wife and mother who, along with her husband (Didier Bourdon) and family, are propelled into 2025 after a freak accident with their new washing machine where she becomes a powerful bank executive, he struggles with unemployment and depression and their children face a world dominated by technology. Les Films du 24 produced the film in co-production with TF1 Films Production and Belgium’s UMedia.

Alice Damiani, SVP of international film sales at Studio TF1 cites the film’s “witty script and wonderful performances,” adding: “Its use of the fish out of water theme to explore family dynamics – with both role reversal and time travel thrown in - gives Cycle Of Time a wide-ranging appeal.”

UGC will release the film in French cinemas on Wednesday (October 8).
