Altitude, Studiocanal and Hanway are among the 12 companies taking part in the inaugural Access To Market event, designed to connect Black and Global Majority-owned UK production companies with leading sales agents and distributors.
The market takes place tomorrow (June 12) at L’Oscar in central London, and will include a series of roundtable discussions and networking opportunities between the producers and sales agents and distributors.
The other companies participating are Other Parties, Blue Finch, Met Film, Vertigo, We Are Parable, Afro Films UK, True Brit, Embankment Films and Dogwoof.
The initiative comes from Victoria Thomas of Republic of Story and Akua Gyamfi of The British Blacklist, who partnered earlier this year to launch No Password Required, an industry platform for Black and Global Majority-owned production companies across Europe.
Backing comes from the Film Distributors Association, Film Export UK, BFI Inclusion, My Smash Media and ARTEF.
As well as the industry market, No Password Required is also developing an online directory mapping out Black and Global Majority-owned production companies across Europe, with an aim to foster cross-border relationships, support co-productions and create new pathways for creative and commercial exchange across Europe.
