Sony Pictures Classics has acquired worldwide rights to The Only Living Pickpocket In New York starring John Turturro following last month’s world premiere in Sundance.
Noah Segan wrote and directed for MRC and T-Street. The story follows an aging pickpocket in a transformed economy who cares for his disabled wife and falls foul of a crime family when he gets his hands on a valuable data stick. The cast includes Giancarlo Esposito, Will Price, Tatiana Maslany, Victoria Moroles, and Steve Buscemi.
MRC financed and T-Street produced the feature, with Katie McNeill, Leopold Hughes and Ben LeClair serving as producers and T-Street co-founders Rian Johnson and Ran Bergman on board as executive producers alongside Johnny Holland.
Sony Pictures Classics negotiated with MRC. This marks the company’s third 2026 Sundance acquisitions after Bedford Park and Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty!
