It Is In Us All

A starry SXSW 2022 film line-up announced on Wednesday (2) includes world premieres of new work from Antonia Campbell-Hughes, Richard Linklater and Nicolas Cage, among many others.

The Austin, Texas, festival ran online editions over the past two years and is planned to take place from March 11-20 as an in-person event against a backdrop of declining Omicron infection levels across the United States.

The roster includes Irish filmmaker and actor Campbell-Hughes’s It Is In Us All (pictured) in Narrative Feature Competition starring Cosmo Jarvis, Claes Bang and Campbell-Hughes about a violent man forced to consider his self-destructive nature, and Texan filmmaker Linklater’s coming-of-age story Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood in Headliners.

Tom Gormican’s meta Nicolas Cage film The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent starring Cage also plays in Headliners, as does adventure comedy The Lost City starring Channing Tatum and Sandra Bullock. Gabby Giffords Won’t Back Down from Oscar-nominated documentarians Julie Cohen and Betsy West (RBG) in Documentary Spotlight centres on the recovery, life and ongoing work of gun control advocate and Democratic Congresswoman Gabby Giffords who survived a fatal Arizona shooting spree during a meeting with constituents in 2011.

Other highlights include previously announced SXSW opener and Headliners sci-fi adventure Everything Everywhere All At Once starring Michelle Yeoh from Swiss Army Man co-directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. Hiro Murai’s Atlanta Season 3 opener starring Donald Glover, Brian Tyree Henry, LaKeith Stanfield and Zazie Beetz in Headliners is the closing night selection.
