SXSW London has unveiled the first wave of titles for its second edition, including world premieres of feature documentary Feast Or Famine, narrated by UK chef Marco Pierre White, and comedy All Night Wrong starring Maria Bakalova and Zach Cherry; plus keynote speakers.
Anna Bogutskaya returns as head of screen for the second edition of the London offshoot of the Texan festival, which runs in east London from June 1-6. Confirmed keynote speakers include Bad Sisters and Catastrophe creator Sharon Horgan from Ireland, Neon founder and CEO Tom Quinn from the US, and It’s A Sin writer-producer Russell T Davies from the UK.
Adrian Choa and Michael Boccalini’s Feast Or Famine follows London restaurant Angelina as it vies for a Michelin Star under the shadow of the colossal French tire company responsible for shaping chefs’ destinies. US outfit Film Mode is selling.
Jason James’ Canadian film All Night Wrong takes place on a blind date, which results in the newly-matched couple stealing a killer’s car along with a dead body and $40,000.
Alex Kahuam’s The Remedy also has its world premiere at SXSW. It follows a troubled young man who is the caregiver for both his mother and sister, and who unknowingly unleashes a supernatural entity that feeds on human flesh. The UK’s Film Seekers represents sales.
Films from 22 countries are already confirmed for this year’s edition. ”SXSW London Screen Festival is not designed to be just another film festival,” said Bogutskaya. ”What we’re building here is a bridge between international talent and the UK, between film and the wider creative industries, and points of connection between film, music, art and technology. The programme we have curated is celebrating those filmmakers and artists who are exploring and exploding the possibilities of filmmaking.”
