Teresa Moneo, the former Netflix UK head of original film, has joined Mike Goodridge’s UK production outfit Good Chaos as creative director and producer.
Moneo resigned from her Netflix role earlier this year and set up her own consultancy. During her time at the streamer, her slate of Netflix-backed UK films included Edward Berger’s Good Chaos-produced Ballad Of A Small Player, as well as Ben Taylor’s Joy and Tom Harper’s Peaky Blinders film, The Immortal Man.
Moneo continued to work on Ballad Of A Small Player and The Immortal Man after leaving her Netflix role.
In her position at Good Chaos, Moneo will work with founder and producer Goodridge and head of development Catriona Renton on the company’s slate, while steering the creative path going forward.
“I have profound respect for Mike’s worldview and the way he works across the board with the global creative community,” said Moneo. “We have similar values.”
Describing Moneo as “one of the best creative minds I know”, Goodridge said the executive will “bring so much wisdom and expertise to bear in the continued growth of the company as well as across our existing and future projects.”
Goodridge founded Good Chaos in 2020, with credits including Lazlo Nemes’ Venice premiere Orphan, Shih-Ching Tsou’s Cannes premiere Left-Handed Girl, Sandhya Suri’s Cannes 2024 title Santosh and Ruben Ostlund’s 2022 Palme d’Or winner Triangle Of Sadness. The team now stands at eight, and has a first-look, year-long, renewable deal with Searchlight Pictures.
Moneo originally joined Netflix in 2019 as director, international original film, before taking over the head of UK film role in July 2024. During her time at Netflix, she also oversaw award-winning non-English language films including JA Bayona’s Society Of The Snow and Paolo Sorrentino’s The Hand Of God.
Prior to Netflix, she worked at companies including Miramax, Pathe Productions and Focus Features. Former Film4 director Ollie Madden took over as head of UK film at Netflix this month.
Good Chaos’ slate also includes Finnish filmmaker Jalmari Helander’sSisu 2: Road To Revenge to be released by Sony Pictures Releasing this November and Anna Biller’s medieval ghost story The Face Of Horror, which shot in Prague in the summer.
