StudioCanal sets date for Richard Ayoade’s follow-up to Submarine, starring Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska.
Doppleganger feature The Double, directed by Richard Ayoade (Submarine), is to be released by StudioCanal in the UK on April 4, 2014.
The film, which debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, stars Jesse Eisenberg as a man who is driven crazy by the appearance of his doppleganger. Mia Wasikowska co-stars.
It was written by Avi Korine and Ayoade, and produced by Robin Fox and Amina Dasmal.
StudioCanal describe The Double as “an idiosyncratic adaptation of Dostoevsky’s celebrated novella, switching the action from 19thcentury Russia to a surrealist modern-day America.”
The film played in competition at the London Film Festival and Tokyo International Film Festival.
