EXCLUSIVE: Altitude has sold Hugo Keijzer’s sci-fi thriller The Occupant to North America, UK-Ireland and Australia-New Zealand ahead of its world premiere at SXSW London in June.
Decal has picked up North American rights while Signature Entertainment will release in UK-Ireland and Australia-New Zealand.
Rob Delaney and Ella Balinska star. A woman finds herself stranded and alone in the Caucasus mountains, where a mysterious helper offers her the choice between accepting the inevitable or abandoning reality.
Producers are Raymond van der Kaaij for Revolver Amsterdam, plus Kwesi Dickson, Jay Taylor and Isabel Freer for the UK’s Electric Shadow Company. Georgia’s 20 Steps International co-produces.
The film was supported by the Netherlands Film Fund, the UK Global Screen Fund, Northern Ireland Screen and ESC Studios, and financing was led by Orogen Entertainment. Blair Ward, Anders Erdén and Lauren Case serve as executive producers. Shooting took place in Georgia and Northern Ireland.
