‘The Outrun’

The Outrun and On Falling won two awards each at the Bafta Scotland Awards, held last night (November 16) in Glasgow.

The Outrun’s Nora Fingscheidt won the director fiction prize, with star Saoirse Ronan receiving the actress film/television award. The film is based on Amy Liprot’s memoir and sees Ronan play a woman struggling with sobriety who returns home to Scotland’s Orkney Islands.

On Falling won the feature film prize, with Laura Carreira also collecting the writer film/television award. On Falling is Carreira’s debut feature and follows a Portuguese immigrant and warehouse worker in Scotland played by Joana Santos.

The actor film/television award went to James McArdle for his role in Darren Thornton’s Irish comedy Four Mothers, which premiered at the London Film Festival.

Actor and filmmaker Ewan McGregor attended to accept the outstanding contribution to film and television award.
