‘Open Season 2’

EXCLUSIVE: France’s Studio TF1 has taken on international sales rights to Ludovic Bernard’s Scotland-set con artist comedy The Perfect Family (Les Parfait(s)) and to Frédéric Forestier and Antonin Fourlon’s ensemble comedy sequel Open Season 2 (Chasse Gardée 2).

The Paris-based company, which has just rebranded from its former Newen Studios label, will kick off sales for both films at the Cannes Marche.

The Perfect Family, which stars Audrey Fleurot, Ramzy Bedia and Alan Cumming, is about three generations of a family of master scammers on the run from bloodthirsty gangsters who flee to Scotland where they steal the identities of a picture-perfect family. But blending in proves harder than expected as suspicious co-workers and nosy neighbours threaten to blow their cover.

Olivier Kahn produces for UGC, which will release the film in France on December 24, 2025.

Open Season 2 continues the story of the original film about a family that escapes the city seeking peace and quiet only to find out their property is open for hunting season for the entire village.

Released in France in 2023, it was a box office hit with nearly 2 million admissions and sold to some 25 global markets. The film’s producers Curiosa Films and Starman Films reteam for the sequel, which is set two years later as the family settles into their countryside life until the arrival of a wealthy hunting family shakes things up. The original ensemble cast also returns, including Didier Bourdon, Camille Lou, Hakim Jemili and Thierry Lhermitte. UGC and Studio TF1 will release it in French cinemas on December 10.

Studio TF1 also heads to the market with screenings of romantic comedy Match Made In Heaven (Deux Anges) about a couple whose attraction sparks a celestial crisis. Les Improductibles Films and Marvelous Productions produced the film which Universal Pictures will release on May 7.

Other market screenings include road trip comedy The Family Road (Sur La Route De Papa), Edouard Pluvieux’s countryside-set comedy No Signal!, and family adventure Marius & The Treasure Hunters about kids in Marseille who find a mysterious box leading to a hidden treasure.

Studio TF1 also brings new footage for Santiago Requejo’s Madrid-set comedy drama All In Favor (Votamos), time-hopping Cycle Of Time (C’Etait Mieux Demain) starring Elsa Zylberstein about a 1950s family catapulted to 2025 by a washing machine, Pascal Elbé’s Second World War comedy drama Lucky Star (La Bonne Etoile) starring Benoit Poelvoorde, hair-loss comedy Bald Is The New Black (Comme Un Oeuf) starring Kev Adams and Michael Youn, and Lucas Belvaux’s psychological thriller Haunted Minds starring Niels Schneider, Ramzy Bedia and Deborah Francois.
