‘Super Mario Bros. The Movie’

Universal/Illumination’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie has crossed $900m at global box office and will reach $1bn within days.

The animation smash stood at $901.2m through April 25 and is at $457.2m internationally and $444m in North America. It gets an extra level up today with the launch in South Korea and opens in Japan on Friday.

Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black and Charlie Day feature in the voice cast on the Nintendo videogame adaptation.

The update comes as Universal prepares to present at CinemaCon on Wednesday afternoon in Las Vegas.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie has smashed records around the world since it opened on April 5 and follows last year’s $939m global box office haul by Illumination Minions: The Rise Of Gru.
