‘THE LIFE AND DEATHS OF WILSON SHEDD’

UK-based WestEnd Films has boarded international sales on Tim Blake Nelson’s Toronto world premiere The Life And Deaths Of Wilson Shedd, in which the US actor-director stars alongside Amanda Seyfried and Scoot McNairy.

WME, V42 and D Squared Films co-rep North America. The US film is set to receive its world premiere in the Gala Presentations section.

Nelson writes, directs and produces the film, which is inspired by true events. Seyfried stars as an English teacher trapped in an abusive marriage, who takes a job at a maximum-security prison in Oklahoma and forms an intense connection with a charismatic inmate in her class.

The cast also includes Wunmi Mosaku, Missi Pyle, William Jackson Harper, Elizabeth Marvel, Grant Harvey and Devyn A. Tyler.

Nelson produces through his company Red Barn Films, alongside Julie Buck, Co Created Media’s Ryan Bartecki and Billy Hines and V42 Fund’s Miles David Romney. Co-producers are John Mock and Vanessa Stewart. Executive producers are Christopher Hines, Gary Levinsohn, Molly C. Quinn, Matthew M. Welty and Elan Gale. 

Nelson’s acting credits include The Testament Of Ann Lee, which played at Toronto last year and also starred Seyfried. His directing credits span Tribeca 2015 premiere Anaesthesia, Toronto premieres Leaves Of Grass (from 2009) and The Grey Zone (from 2001), and 2001’s modern-day Othello re-telling O.
