FilmNation Entertainment has brought on former Warner Bros film group chairman Toby Emmerich to consult on the company’s production label Infrared.
Emmerich will consult on the label’s development and production slate of genre projects with franchise potential. They include Derek Kolstad’s Painter starring Amber Midthunder and Walton Goggins for 20th Century Studios, and JT Mollner’s Skeletons starring Brie Larson, which Sony Pictures pre-bought for the world at the EFM this year.
Emmerich will continue to operate his Fireside Films and Fireside Television alongside Michele Weiss and Amanda Krentzman. His deal with Infrared follows the departure last month of Drew Simon, who set up the label with FilmNation CEO Glen Basner four years ago. Simon served as producer on Paramount’s release of Infrared action film Novocaine, which opened in in March 2025 and earned $19.9m in North America.
Emmerich and FilmNation collaborated on Peter Farrelly’s TIFF world premiere I Play Rocky starring Anthony Ippolito as a young Sylvester Stallone. Fireside Films produced the film alongside Christian Baha and Farrelly, and FilmNation handled production services and international sales.
Prior to his role at Warner Bros, Emmerich served as president and COO of New Line. Fireside has a first-look deal at Warner Bros and New Line.
