A Chronicle of Minor Things by Indian director Tribeny Rai has won the top prize at Busan’s Asian Project Market, which also saw Indonesian project Goldfish hook three awards.

Rai’s upcoming feature scooped the APM Busan Award, which includes a cash prize of $15,000. The film, currently in development, revolves around the death of a teenage girl, who is found hanging from a tree on the boundary of two villages. It sparks a dispute over territory while a village councillor is drawn into an investigation.

It also won the Sorfond Award, which covers a trip to Norway’s Sorfond Pitching Forum. The project reunites Rai with producer Kisley after 2025’s Shape Of Momo, which won two Busan Vision Awards last year and was selected for the New Directors Competition at San Sebastian.

At a ceremony on the closing day of the 21st Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM), a further 10 prizes were awarded to promising projects from across Asia.

Landing a hat-trick of awards was Goldfish, set to be the debut feature of Indonesian director Aditya Ahmad, whose shorts have won awards at Berlin and Venice. The film won the VIPO Award, which comes with a $10,000 cash prize; Kongchak Studio Award, worth $25,000 in post-production services; and QCinema Special Award, which covers a trip to the Directors Guild of the Philippines (DGPI) pitch event.

Goldfish is set in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, where the director grew up, the project follows a boy who runs away from his father. It is produced by Muhammad Zaidy, whose credits include Locarno 2021 Golden Leopard winner Vengeance Is Mine, All Others Pay Cash and Sleep No More, which played at this year’s Berlinale.

Further winners included Casparina by Reza Rahadian, which won the CJ ENM Award of $10,000. Rahadian is one of Indonesia’s most recognisable stars, who previously won four Busan Vision awards in 2025 with directorial debut On Your Lap. His second film as director will chronicle the story of his own grandmother, who was a freedom fighter and journalist.

APM received a record 604 submissions from 48 countries this year, with 30 projects from 17 countries selected.
