EXCLUSIVE: TrustNordisk has signed key deals on thriller What Lies Between Us starring Sidse Babett Knudsen, Sofie Grabol and Asta Kamma August.
The film has sold to France (ARP Selection), Benelux (September Film), Spain (YouPlanet) and Germany (Wild Bunch).
What Lies Between Us sees a quiet suburban community shaken when a teenage boy accuses two of his peers of sexual assault. As the town reels from the allegations, real estate agent Anne Sofie discovers that her son may be involved.
The film is directed by Amalie Naesby Fick, and written by Sara Isabella Jonsson and Nikolaj Arcel. Louise Vesth produces for Zentropa, in co-production with Zentropa Sweden, Zentropa Berlin, Klinkerfilm and Film i Vast. Support comes from the Danish Film Institute Market Scheme, Eurimages and Moin in co-operation with Nordisk Film & TV Fond, DR/Danish Broadcasting Corporation, SVT and Nordisk Film Distribution A/S.
What Lies Between Us premiered in the Discovery section at Toronto film festival last month, before playing Filmfest Hamburg. It is a first live-action feature for Danish filmmaker Fick, after animations The Incredible Story Of The Giant Pear and The Little Alien.
