UK financier Head Gear Films is committing more than $120m to US independent film and television through its new operation, Head Gear USA.
Samantha Allwinton, Head Gear’s director of operations, has relocated to the US to lead Head Gear USA, and will be based between Denver and LA. She is the only Head Gear exec based in the US and will be attending the AFM and Sundance.
The move comes in the wake of US Congress introducing a bill proposing a 20% federal tax credit on US labour, potentially adding to state incentives of 30% or more.
Since being founded in 2002, Head Gear claims to have invested more than $600m across 550 films including The Apprentice, Talk To Me and How To Have Sex.
