‘EPiC: Elvis Presley In Concert’, ‘Scream 7’

Universal’s Elvis Presley concert film is the widest new release in UK and Ireland cinemas this weekend as Paramount’s horror entry Scream 7 also launches.

EPiC: Elvis Presley In Concert opens in 647 locations this weekend. Baz Luhrmann’s music documentary made over £500,000 in previews last week, breaking the record at the BFI Imax for the biggest first weekend ever for a documentary. The film features never-before-seen footage and recordings.

Scream 7 launches in 596 venues for Paramount. It is slightly down on the locations for Scream VI which opened in 624 venues. That title debuted with £2.4m for a £7.7m cume.

Original stars Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and Matthew Lillard return to Scream 7 alongside newer faces Isabel May, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding. Kevin Williamson directs.

‘The Testament Of Ann Lee’

Amanda Seyfried stars in The Testament Of Ann Lee which Disney is opening in 185 sites. Mona Fastvold’s musical biopic tells the story of Ann Lee, who founded the Shakers religious sect. It first premiered at Venice film festival and earned Seyfried a Golden Globe nomination for best actress.

Anime title All You Need Is Kill launches in 112 cinemas for Anime Ltd. The Japanese film follows an isolated young woman stuck in a time loop during an alien invasion.

Oscar nominee Sirât opens in 76 locations for Altitude. Oliver Laxe’s Spanish thriller follows a father and son who go looking for their missing daughter/sister in North Africa. The film is nominated for international feature and sound at the Oscars and won the jury prize when it first premiered at Cannes film festival.

Indian comedy Viyaah Karaare Da launches in 66 sites for Bakrania Media. It follows a man who declares his father dead so he can take over his job in the police force.

Irish comedy The Spin is out in 30 venues via Tull Stories. Michael Heard’s film follows two unlikely friends who need to travel the length of Ireland in two days to save their record store from closure.
