UK production company Potboiler has hired Thérèsa Ryan-van Graan as producer and head of physical production.

Ryan-van Graan joins Gail Egan and Andrea Calderwood’s company to work across all Potboiler projects, as well as developing her own slate under the Potboiler banner.

The South Africa-UK dual national is a longtime collaborator with Oliver Hermanus, including on Cannes 2025 Competition title The History Of Sound starring Paul Mescal and Josh O’Connor.

The duo previously worked together on Hermanus’s The Endless River and Moffie, as well as 2024 miniseries Mary & George. Ryan-van Graan relocated to the UK in 2021, having previously headed up Hermanus’s South Africa-based Penzance Films.

Her prior experience includes as head of physical production at South African international service company Moonlighting Films, on Africa-filmed projects including Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Invictus and Mad Max: Fury Road.

The producer also worked with Calderwood on K’naan Warsame’s Somali-language debut feature Mother Mother, which debuted at Toronto 2024.

Lynne Ramsay’s Die My Love, produced by Calderwood for Potboiler, also debuted in Cannes Competition this year, and had its UK premiere at BFI London Film Festival this month. Egan is in post-production on a five-part political thriller series adaptation of Tom Bradby’s Secret Service for ITVX.
