Ryan Gosling, hot off the number one global debut of Project Hail Mary, will star in Universal’s upcoming 2027 event film to be directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert.
Production is scheduled to commence in Los Angeles this summer and Universal will release the film on November 19 2027.
Plot details remain under wraps on the Daniels’ first feature since their 2022 Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All At Once.
Kwan, Scheinert and Jonathan Wang will produce through their Playgrounds overall deal with Universal. Playgrounds’ Kwan and Wang recently produced The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist from Focus Features, which opens this weekend.
Daniels won seven Academy Awards including best picture, director, screenwriter, and lead actress for A24’s Everything Everywhere All At Once starring Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ke Huy Quan, and Stephanie Hsu.
Project Hail Mary opened through Amazon MGM Studios on $141m worldwide last weekend and currently stands at more than $155m.
