Venice Critics’ Week 2025 line-up includes ‘100 Nights Of Hero’ with Emma Corrin, Charli XCX, Felicity Jones, Nicholas Galitzine

Julia Jackman’s 100 Nights Of Hero starring Emma Corrin and Charli XCX is among the selection for the 40^th Venice Critics’ Week, closing the independent Venice Film Festival sidebar out of competition.

100 Nights Of Hero is one of three UK features in the Critics’ Week 2025 lineup, alongside Imran Perretta’s Ish and Oscar Hudson’s Straight Circle, with the latter two both in the seven-strong competition.

The strand will open with Caroline Deruas Peano’s France-Canada co-production Stereo Girls starring Lena Garrel, daughter of French filmmaker Philippe Garrel.

100 Nights Of Hero is produced by Stephanie Aspin and Helen Simmons for Erebus Pictures, with Grant S Johnson for Project Infinity. Based on Isabel Greenberg’s 2016 graphic novel of the same name and set in a fantasy world, the film follows a woman whose husband goes on a business trip, as she is developing forbidden feelings for her maid.

Alongside Corrin and XCX on the cast are Nicholas Galitzine, Maika Monroe, Amir El Masry, Richard E Grant and Felicity Jones.

Critics’ Week is headed up by artistic director Beatrice Fiorentino; it is independent from the main Venice Biennale festival but receives support from it, as well as from the Italian Ministry of Culture.

The section is focused on debut features such as Perretta’s Ish – depicting two best friends separated by racial profiling - and Hudson’s Straight Circle, in which a disorienting nightmare takes hold of two enemy soldiers stationed on a lonely desert border.

The section will run from August 27-September 6, parallel to the Venice official selection, which will be unveiled tomorrow (Tuesday, July 22).
