‘Remake’

EXCLUSIVE: MetFilm Sales has acquired international sales rights to Ross McElwee’s documentary Remake, and kicked off sales on the title at International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) this week.

Remake won the Golden Globes Impact Prize and independent Bisato d’Oro critics award at Venice Film Festival this year, where it debuted out of competition. Cinetic Media is handling North American rights.

The film traces McElwee’s relationship with his son Adrian, and the bond the camera created between them while Adrian was alive, and now that he is gone.

It uses footage from across several decades, shot by both Ross and Adrian.

Remake had its Dutch premiere at IDFA yesterday (Thursday, November 20), having also played at Doclisboa and Stockholm film festivals since Venice.

It is produced by Mark Meatto and Ross McElwee for Giant Squid, in association with Impact Partners. Executive producers are Geralyn White Dreyfous, Jenny Raskin, Ian Darling, Adam and Melony Lewis, Regina K. Scully and Brynn Kelly.

It joins a MetFilm Sales slate that includes Berlinale best documentary winner Holding Liat; and Gar O’Rourke’s Sanatorium, Ireland’s international feature Oscar entry.
