
Giovanni Veronesi’s Dio ride will close the 2026 edition of the Venice Film Festival, which runs September 2 – 12, 2026.
Dio ride will play out of competition and have its world premiere screening on Saturday, September 12, in the Sala Grande of the Palazzo del Cinema after the festival’s awards ceremony.
Based on the true story, the film follows a seventeenth-century friar who changes the lives of the people he encounters. It stars Pierfrancesco Favino, Silvio Orlando, Alma Noce, Francesco Gheghi, Maurizio Lombardi, Paolo Rossi, and Carlo Cecchi.
It is produced by Indiana Production, Piperfilm, and Ogi Film in collaboration with Netflix. PiperFilm is releasing Dio ride in Italy on October 29. Piperplay is handling international sales.
Veronesi is known for comedies such as the Manual Of Love trilogy.
Danny Boyle’s Ink will open the Venice Film Festival, with the full lineup unveiled on July 23.
