‘The Last Viking’

Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired US distribution rights to Anders Thomas Jensen’s The Last Viking.

It will release the film in US cinemas in 2026.

The film had its world premiere out of competition at Venice Film Festival last month, before a North American premiere at Toronto. TrustNordisk handles world sales.

The Last Viking sees Jensen reunite with actors Mads Mikkelsen and Nikolaj Lie Kaas, who have starred in all five of his previous features.

It is a dark comedy about a recently released prisoner searching for the loot from his heist, with his brother who has a mental disorder and has forgotten where the money is hidden.

Sisse Graum Jorgensen and Sidsel Hybschmann produce for Zentropa Entertainments, in co-production with Zentropa Sweden and Film i Vast. Backers include the Danish Film Institute, FilmFyn, Eurimages – Council of Europe, Nordisk Film & TV Fond, Swedish Film Institute, with support from the European Union, in collaboration with Nordisk Film Distribution A/S & TV 2 Danmark.

TrustNordisk and Samuel Goldwyn Films previously collaborated on Thomas Vinterberg’s best international feature Oscar winner Another Round.

The Last Viking has sold to over 60 territories, including Germany, Italy and Japan.
